Johnny Holschuh is an Attorney at The Harris Law Firm who represents clients from our Denver office. He focuses his practice on divorce, child custody, and other matters of family law.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Johnny earned his undergraduate degree in History, summa cum laude, from Tulane University in New Orleans and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where his mother, father, and grandfather also attended. While in law school, Johnny wrote articles that were published in The University of Cincinnati Law Review as well as Ohio Lawyer.
Coming from a family with quite a legal background, Johnny has always had an interest in the law. However, it was his grandfather, a lawyer and judge, who helped him realize the immense power attorneys wield when it comes to evening the scales of justice and providing a voice to those who may be less privileged or poorly positioned to advocate for themselves. He enjoys being an advocate for individuals and families and thrives on using his skills and legal knowledge to help clients pursue positive outcomes in cases that are highly consequential for their futures.
As an Attorney at The Harris Law Firm, Johnny’s practice is founded on making the best interests of his clients and their children his top priority. He takes the time to listen to clients’ goals and concerns and is pragmatic in discussing their legal options, providing his professional opinion, and advocating in accordance with an agreed plan of action. He also understands the extraordinarily difficult circumstances clients can face during divorce and family law matters and invests considerable effort into being available, establishing trust, and building strong working relationships throughout the lives of their cases.
In addition to his experienced and client-centric approach, Johnny is also mindful of the bigger picture in family cases and the importance of his role as both a guide and advocate. In the vein of Theodore Roosevelt’s diplomatic approach to “speak softly and carry a big stick,” he believes that working toward a cooperative agreement with opposing parties is often the most beneficial path for clients but has honed an extensive litigation skillset that he is always ready to utilize when it is necessary to protect his clients’ interests. Clients appreciate his communication, candor, and genuine passion for conducting meticulous research, as well as his kind demeanor and sense of humor, which can be especially helpful during trying times.
Outside of the courtroom, Johnny is a big history buff who enjoys touring Civil War battlefields, hiking in the mountains, cooking, and playing billiards, darts, and board and video games. He is an avid reader, especially of science fiction and the works of Kurt Vonnegut and Ted Chiang, and is constantly striving but always failing to attain the approval of his two cats, Catherine and Lolita. Johnny regularly volunteers with Metro Volunteer Lawyers’ Legal Clinic at the Denver Indian Center as well as Colorado Lawyers Committee’s Denver Legal Night.
