Camille Mulholland
Since I was very young, I always wanted to attend law school. I have always been concerned with justice and ensuring that people's rights were protected.I grew up in Northern California and first fell in love with Colorado during family reunions spent there. While in college at UC Santa Barbara, I took a position at a mountain resort called the Grand Lake Lodge in Colorado, and had the privilege of living and working in the mountains. I continued to come back year after year, and eventually became the Personnel Manager for the lodge. Working in the service industry (which including everything from cleaning hotel rooms to waiting on tables) taught me invaluable lessons about teamwork, respecting the people you interact with, managing stressful situations and the importance of customer service no matter what job you have. After graduating with a BA in political science, I moved to Colorado and was accepted at University of Denver College of Law. I loved my time at DU where I worked in the Student Law Office handling family law cases and other civil litigation cases.
After graduating in the top ten percent of my class and receiving the honor of being in the Order of St. Ives for academic achievement, I moved with my fiancé to Helena, Montana to serve as a judicial clerk for the Montana Supreme Court. While in Big Sky Country we hiked, camped and explored Yellowstone, Glacier and the rest of Montana as much as we could. When my clerkship ended, my husband and I moved to Los Angeles, California so he could pursue a career as a screenwriter. We both love movies and the arts and enjoyed our time in Los Angeles. We also took advantage of the beautiful and varied landscape of California's wilderness. But we always knew that Colorado would call us home.
As an attorney in Los Angeles, I began work in a small family law office. As a child of divorced parents, I was very familiar with the difficulties and hardships for families, and was eager to advocate for the rights of the spouses that I represented. I also wanted to ensure that the best interests of the children were not forgotten in the process. After working for approximately a year at this firm, I believed that I could better serve my clients through a deeper understanding of the law and the court system. So, I took a position as a research attorney for the Los Angeles Superior Court where I was responsible for preparing five family law judges for motions filed in dissolution cases. This provided an essential background of California family law and after the clerkship was completed, I returned to practice as a family law attorney, handling complex family law litigation in the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills area. My husband and I knew we wanted to return to Denver, and when our daughter was three years old, we made the decision to come home. I am looking forward to a long career in the Mile High City.
I am proud of the work that family law attorneys provide to their clients. I believe that we can provide real solutions and real answers to families in need. This is a very difficult field because we are trying to guide people through a very trying and emotional time. Although I believe that attorneys should do whatever possible to provide solutions and reach agreements that do not involve litigation, there are always times that the involvement of court is necessary to reach a resolution and protect the client's best interest. It is my goal to work with my clients to achieve that balance.
